Went out for some stargazing at around 2 am MT on April 21, 2025 (8:00 UTC) to catch the rising Milky Way before Moonrise. I set up my camera with a fish eye lens and took a shot, which surprisingly revealed a pink glow to the north. I changed out the fish eye for a 14mm lens and captured a brief substorm. It was already fading after a minute or two. Crestone, Colorado 37.996 deg north.
The next day began with the sun rising from the summit of Crestone Peak. I was able to see it using sunoculars. Perfect alignment. Later we visited some of the local attractions. I enjoy visiting the stupas. The big stupa at the end of the dirt road is absolutely stunning and provides opportunity for wave upon wave of Kaivalya. The smaller stupa is fitted with a crystal jewel on its crown that casts bright rainbow prisms to those attuned. I could stay there for hours.

Peak of the aurora substorm - lasted about 2 minutes before it started to fade.

Fish eye view - pink aurora to the north, artificial lights from Alamosa to the south.

Tashi Gomang Stupa - 84000 doors to enlightment.

Yeshe Rangsall Stupa of Enlightment.
