April 28, 2025 Airglow
It was clear last night in the evening so I was out stargazing. There was a noticeable brightness in the air and I had a strong hunch that there was some neon green airglow that would appear in my camera. After snagging a few planetaries in the 12”, I set out to capture some photos. Voila! Green green glow. It was all over the sky, though it seemed a little stronger towards the south. I also saw some faint ripple structure, especially towards the northeast. I broke out my SQM-L meter and got an average of about 21.50 mpsas, which is actually fairly dark, but about 0.15-0.25 mpsas brighter than I would expect at this time of the year. Also of note, the solar activity had been fairly quiet for the past day or two. - West Elk Mountains of Colorado looking towards the Grand Mesa.
